Mrs. Kathleen Fox, MBE
Mrs. Kathleen Fox, a member of Bistre Methodist Church in the Buckley & Deeside Circuit, was recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list. Kath is Chairwoman of Deeside Community Hospital League of Friends and was made an MBE for her voluntary work, which has included raising thousands of pounds for the Aston-based hospital.
Lord Barry Jones P.C. has praised her ‘vigour’ saying that over £500,000 had been raised since H.M. The Queen opened the hospital in 1992. This is the second honour awarded to Kath in less than twelve months. She was made a member of the Order of Mercy earlier in 2009. The Order of Mercy is an award established 110 years ago and is given to honour outstanding voluntary efforts in hospitals.
Fellow members and friends at Bistre Methodist Church and in the Circuit are absolutely delighted at the recognition of Kath’s efforts. She has enthused and inspired many others across the Circuit to get directly involved with Deeside League of Friends and has encouraged many churches to hold fundraising efforts for the hospital.
