Wrexham Methodist Church on Regent Street, Wrexham was a sea of colours as many Nations gathered for an International Carol Service.

On Saturday, 19th December ‘09, Wrexham Methodist Church, in Regent Street, Wrexham celebrated its first ‘Multi-ethnic’ Christmas, organised by the Synod Enabler, Rev. Irfan John. This was the first time ever in Wrexham’s history where so many cultures came together in a Church.

Christians from some 15 different countries came to share in food and fellowship before taking part in a special service introducing carols from around the world in their own language, including Urdu, English, Shona(Zimbabwe), Tamil, Hindi, Eritrean, Chinese, Farsi, Polish, Romanian, Algeria, Ukraine, Japanese, Australia and of course Welsh. The service began with a prayer in Hindi and Welsh. The service was a wonderful reflection of the one family of all Nations united in faith that we so often speak of.

Rev. Richard Sharples, Circuit Supretendant, Wrexham Circuit, preached the Sermon; Ian Lucas (Member of Parliament for Wrexham) spoke of the importance of valuing diversity; and the service closed with a blessing from Bishop Edwin, Roman Catholic Bishop of Wrexham Province.

Many thanks to Biddy, Lucy, Eileen, Art, Vivian, Victoria, Samar, Robin, Nandita and Raheela.
