Richard Sharples (Superintendent, Wrexham Circuit) writes about the Brymbo Arts Project - Summer 2009

The Project ran for 6 consecutive Wednesday mornings, from 9.30am - 12noon.
Over the course of the 6 sessions over 80 difference people came; approximately half of whom were children. Some of these came for all six sessions, some for only one. Some came simply to make their hand-print for the Community Artwork and have a cup of tea; others stayed for the whole morning. The vast majority of these came from Brymbo itself.
Feedback received was very positive and appreciated.
People had mostly heard about it through the leaflets/posters in local shops/Post Office.
The Community Art work was a helpful and 'bonding' element.
Vicky, the Artist, was wonderful and introduced different activities so that those who came to every session never got bored.
Personally, it exceeded my expectations. I feel that it has broadened the vision of Members of the Chapel as to what we might do for the community. We now have contact with a significant number of families on the estate above the Chapel, whereas previously we had almost none. To see the Chapel alive and buzzing was wonderful. Another Arts Project next year would clearly be appreciated. Perhaps in the meantime, we could attempt to organize a morning's activities a la 'Messy Church'?
