Letter from the Chair of Synod, Rev. Dr. Stephen Wigley, re. the Appointment of Assistant Chairs of Synod
To colleagues in the Wales Synod
of the Methodist Church in Wales
27th July 2009
Dear Friends,
Re: Appointment of Assistant Chairs for the Wales Synod
At recent meetings of the Policy Committee and Synod, we have spent much time discussing and refining proposals to appoint 3 part-time Assistant Chairs to help support me as Synod Chair and develop the work of the Wales Synod.
I am delighted now to announce that we have names for appointment to each of the three roles.

Revd. Lin Healey is currently a supernumerary minister living in Newport who co-ordinates the Synod Pastoral Care group; she has previously served as a minister in the Buckley & Deeside circuit and as superintendent in Cwmbran, part of what will be the Gwent Hills & Vales circuit.

Revd. Keith Tewkesbury is returning to circuit ministry in the Colwyn Bay & Llandudno circuit having previously spent 10 years as chaplain at Rydal Penrhos where, in addition to his chaplaincy and teaching roles, he played an important part in the bringing together of the two schools.

Revd. Linda Woollacott is currently superintendent of the Neath Port Talbot Circuit having previously been a minister in the Pembrokeshire Forum United area with the URC; she has also served as the Wales Synod representative at Methodist Council.
All three have a great deal of wisdom and experience to share with us in the development of the Wales Synod. Speaking personally, I am delighted that they are willing to serve in this way and look forward to working with them in their new roles. I am also very grateful for the willingness of their circuits to release them from some of their duties in order to make this possible.
We look forward to confirming their appointment at Synod on Saturday 5th September, which will also include a special commissioning service in addition to the normal business of the agenda.
I look forward to seeing many of you there.
With every blessing,
Stephen
