Julie Morgan MP signs the pledge

No its not the tee-total pledge but the Get Fair Pledge! Members from Whitchurch and St Andrew's Methodist churches in Cardiff joined members from other churches to lobby their MP Julie Morgan concerning the time to Get Fair over poverty in the UK.
The Government's own statistics show that 12.8million people in the UK live in poverty. Wales has one of the highest proportions of children living in poverty. The group of Christians urged Julie Morgan to work hard to make sure that the investment is made to help the Government reach its own target of halving child poverty by 2010. We also made specific representation about the children of asylum seekers who live in poverty and are denied access to health and education services that should be the right of every child in Britain. The group also asked the Labour party include specific policies aimed at addressing poverty in their election manifesto. Ms Morgan promised to raise some of these concerns as a matter of urgency in a speech she plans to make to the House before the end of July.
