Women's Network South Wales - News

Our 2009 Conference was held at Lindors (Wye Valley) from March 3rd - 5th. Our leader was Pam Turner (past WN Connexional President). Pam's theme was "Companions in Faith". Part of the conference was spent studying the story of Esther. Each group had to summarise the chapter allocated to them, to bring out the main points of the story - a story of the first recorded beauty contest! A story of anti-semitism. A story in which good triumphs over evil. The story of Esther is read in synagogues during the festival of Purim (which means "lots" i.e. drawing lots). We ended our discussion by relating this story of long ago to today's world and the events which are taking place. We decided that this story is still relevant to us today.

To date we have raised £2,264 towards our project to support women in Cameroon to grow their own produce to feed their families. Hopefully, surplus produce can be sold to provide them with money to pay school fees.
